Tether

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 27, 2026

Tether is a private photo space for two people. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@thetether.love.

Information we collect

  • Account info — your name and email address, handled through our authentication provider, Clerk, when you sign up or sign in (including via Google or Apple if you choose).
  • Your content — the photos, captions, album names, bucket-list items, and other content you add to your shared space.
  • Basic technical data — limited diagnostics needed to operate the app (e.g. error logs). We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising identifiers.

How we use it

We use your information only to provide Tether: to authenticate you, store your photos and content, and share them privately with the partner you pair with. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

How it’s shared

  • Your partner. Content you add to your shared space is visible to the one person you pair with. Photos in your passcode-locked “Eyes Only” album are stored the same way, but stay hidden behind the passcode — they’re only visible after it’s entered.
  • Service providers. We use Clerk (authentication) and our hosting/storage provider (Vercel, including its database and file storage) to run the service. They process data on our behalf.
  • We may disclose information if required by law.

Your choices and deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all of your data at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, your shared space, and your photos. You can also email hello@thetether.love to request deletion or ask a question about your data.

Data retention & security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our systems. We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your information.

Children

Tether is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
